“Writers at the Roundtable” workshops
scheduled on St. Georges Island, Florida.
Darnell Arnoult, published author of fiction, nonfiction,
and poetry, and long-standing member of the Duke Writers Workshop faculty,
will conduct two “Writers at the Roundtable”
creative writing workshops on St. George Island, Florida, in late February.
Each 3 ½ day workshop will include five class sessions w/optional
evening discussion groups, and will focus on defining and refining the
voice of the writer within.
“I want to provide students with specific skills
that can immediately improve their writing,” says Arnoult, whose
publishing credits include Nantahala Review, Southern Cultures, Southwest
Review, Southern Exposure, Ashville Poetry Review and a book of poetry,
What Travels With Us, due in the autumn of 2004. “The intimate
setting and small class size allows more time for one-on-one attention,”
she adds.
Fiction Writer’s Toolbox: How to
use Dialog, Description, Scene, and Structure, runs February 21st to
25th . Journey & Conflict: The mechanics of Time,
Context, and Plot Discovery runs February 25th to 29th . Classes will
be held in a private beach house at St. George Plantation on St. George
Island, FL, 90 minutes southwest of Tallahassee. Class size is limited
to 15 students.
